First introduction to Miami SCORES Powered by Concacaf
June 4th, 2024: Miami SCORES in partnership with Concacaf — launched its now 13th squad in the America SCORES fam! With over 200 students showing up at Earlington Heights Elementary, NO place was more magical. What a way to kick off the #AmericaSCORES vision than launching in a new city (MIAMI) — with a New Executive Director, Rob Uvanovic & our amazing partners, Concacaf.
Miami SCORES Programming begins with Jersey drop-offs
Sept. 2024 was the official kickoff for Miami SCORES programming in Liberty City & Little Haiti – & we did it in style!!! Our 6 MDCPS partner schools got their soccer jerseys just in time for the season. But first? Poetry took center stage during OUR first week in Miami Dade County Public Schools! What a powerful start to a year of purpose, passion & play! Special thanks to New Balance for their support in ensuring our poet-athletes looked great in their soccer gear!
2024 Miami SCORES Cup
Nov. 9th, 2024: Miami SCORES corporate partners showed up & crushed it at our first-ever Miami SCORES Cup, adding it to the America SCORES Cup series, the world's largest annual corporate charity soccer tournament series! 24 companies hit the field to support our free soccer & literacy programs for Title I youth! Major love to all the participating companies, as well our champs, whom we would LOVE to highlight: Jefferies, I Squared & PwC.
Miami SCORES causes a Fall Frenzy
Nov. 15th, 2024: All six Miami SCORES schools came together at Kelsey Pharr Elementary for an afternoon of soccer, poetry & pure vibes + matching waterproof tattoos. From fierce kicks to powerful verses (shoutout to Bank of America volunteers), the energy was unreal. Missed the magic? Don’t worry—we’ve got more moments coming soon. Stay close, Miami. Big things ahead!
Miami SCORES poet-athletes push the poetry envelope
Dec. 13th, 2024: The vibes were loud & the words were powerful at our 2024 Community Poetry SLAM! Miami SCORES poet-athletes closed out the season by sharing their truth, their stories & their hearts with family, friends & the entire America/Miami SCORES community! Poets & teams walked away with awards - but the real win? The courage, creativity & connection that filled the room that evening! We’re already counting down to our 2025 Community Poetry SLAM & can’t wait to see even more poet-athletes - stepping up to the mic & families & community leaders supporting the message!
JAMBOREE = JOY
April 11th, 2025: What. A. Day! With 250 Miami SCORES poet-athletes wrapping a 22-week season of soccer, poetry & service like CHAMPS! 100+ hours on the field, 65+ hours writing & giving back one mission: Teamwork, Leadership & Commitment! Our poet-athletes didn’t just show up - they grew, they shined, & they finished strong. We see you. We celebrate you. We’re already hyped for what’s next. Special thank you & shoutout to superstar Laura Biondo for showing off her skills and inspiring Miami SCORES students to reach new heights!
Power of Poetry on the Big Stage
April 12th, 2025: Miami SCORES poet-athletes took the mic & owned it at the Jason Taylor Foundation’s 11th Annual Firecracker Poetry Slam! Their words hit hard, their voices rang louder—because when soccer meets spoken word, magic happens! National Poetry Month is more than a moment—it’s a movement. Pens become power, power becomes voice, & voice becomes impact. From their first lines to final mic drops, our kids delivered confidence, courage & creativity. All on a stage backed by an NFL legend! Rooted in Miami-Dade & dreaming big in Broward -this is just the beginning.

In this episode, they dive into our one-of-a-kind model blending soccer, poetry, & service-learning — all aimed at uplifting & empowering youth in underserved communities across Miami! Jr. SCORES pilot run
May 2025: Big dreams start small – which is why this year, we proudly launched a pilot Junior SCORES program at Earlington Heights Elementary, in partnership with Taylor Made Futbol Initiative – our very first program for K–2 superstars! From poetry with Coach LO & Coach E – to soccer skills with Coach Kike & Coach Daniel, our littlest players spent 3 weeks building the SCORES motto: Teamwork, Leadership & Commitment – from day one. Major love to Earlington Heights for being our pilot school & to our amazing partners at Taylor Made Futbol Initiative for helping us bring this dream to life. The future’s looking bright & bold - just like our Jr. SCORES poet-athletes.
FIFA World Cup '26 Countdown Clock unveiling
June 11th, 2025: FIFA World Cup ‘26... we’re coming in HOT! The countdown is on & the world will beat as one right here in Miami! Two of our Miami SCORES poet-athletes—powered by Concacaf—took the mic & stole the show at the FIFA WC 1-Year Out celebration! In front of 500+ attendees, including the Mayors of Miami and Miami-Dade they brought poetry, power & purpose—living out our values of Teamwork, Leadership & Commitment. This moment was more than a performance—it was a preview of how Miami’s youth are ready to shine on the global stage.

As we wrap up Miami SCORES’ inaugural season we’re overflowing with gratitude - & it’s all thanks to our AMAZING volunteers! Huge LOVE to our friends at Uber, Concacaf, FIU, St. Thomas Athletics, Modern Elite Training – & of course Laura Biondo, Tony, Matt, & Katherine Howe. YOU all showed up in a big way!
