SCORES Cup 2025: Year Two, Twice the Energy, and a Community That Keeps Growing

There's something about SCORES Cup that feels different. Maybe it's the mix of competition and community, or the fact that every game means more than just the scoreboard. Maybe it's seeing coworkers become teammates, or watching companies that usually compete in the boardroom go head-to-head on the pitch instead. Whatever it is, year two had it in full force. The fields were busier, the energy was louder, and the whole day just felt special. Hard to believe this was only the second year.

Last year, we planted the seed. This year, it blossomed.

The second annual Miami SCORES Cup proved that year one was just the beginning.

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the 2025 Miami SCORES Cup took over Leyva Family Field at the FIU Soccer Stadium, bringing together 550 players from 34 corporate teams, up from 24 last year, for a day of competitive soccer, community building, and fundraising for Miami SCORES and the poet-athletes it serves. In just its second year, the tournament has already become one of Miami's most anticipated corporate charity events.

A Day on the Field

Teams competed across multiple brackets throughout the day, with every match fueling support for Miami SCORES' soccer, poetry, and service-learning programs in Title I Miami-Dade County Public Schools across Liberty City and Little Haiti.

A World Champion Takes The Field

The Competitive Final deserved a proper buildup, and it got one. Miami SCORES ambassador and world champion freestyler, Laura Biondo, performed before kickoff and even led an impromptu lesson on the field. It was the kind of moment that reminded you this wasn't just any tournament, it was the Miami SCORES Cup.

But the action wasn't limited to the tournament. Miami FC players hosted a children's soccer clinic on-site, giving approximately 45 kids, children and family members of SCORES Cup participants, hands-on skills training from professional athletes. It was a reminder that this event isn't just about corporate competition; it's about passing the love of the game to the next generation.

What Year Two Taught Us

Year one gave us hope. Year two gave us momentum.

We learned that our community is bigger and more passionate than we imagined. We learned that soccer can bring together people who may never cross paths otherwise. We learned that creativity, teamwork, and competition can coexist beautifully. Most importantly, we learned that people strongly believe in the mission behind this event.
